SEVENDUST's ROSE To Fill In For TOMMY LEE At MÖTLEY CRÜE's Cincinnati Concert
August 14, 2009SEVENDUST drummer Morgan Rose will fill in for Tommy Lee at tonight's (Friday, August 14) MÖTLEY CRÜE concert at the Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Rose wrote earlier today in a post on his Facebook page, "I'm freakin out! Say a prayer for the kid! I'm on a plane right now and haven't heard some of these songs in 10 years!! Shit!"
No official statement has yet been released by the MÖTLEY CRÜE camp regarding Lee's inability to play the Cincinnati show. However, unconfirmed reports suggest that Tommy was seen early this morning at an Ohio hospital where he was apparently being treated for a minor hand injury (said to be a burn).
***UPDATE: Tommy Lee rejoined his MÖTLEY CRÜE bandmates at tonight's concert to perform the encore song, "Home Sweet Home".***
The last time Lee was forced to sit out a MÖTLEY CRÜE gig was June 12, 2007 when he was he recovering from another arm ailment. EVANESCENCE/DARK NEW DAY drummer Will Hunt filled in for Lee at that show, although Tommy did manage to take to the kit for one number — the immortal "Kickstart My Heart".
Hunt previously filled in for Tommy Lee on several MÖTLEY CRÜE North American tour dates in April 2006. Hunt, who had previously backed Tommy in his solo band, took over the drumming duties after a member of the Canadian MÖTLEY CRÜE tribute band BRÖKEN TÖYZ stepped in at the last minute to cover for Lee at the band's April 5, 2006 concert at the Enmax Center in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada.
